Kurt ThiesAbout the Speaker:

Randell C. Smith, Jr. is the Chief Information Security Officer and the Chief Privacy Officer for the City of Phoenix. The Information Security and Privacy Office (ISPO) provides strategic oversight, direction, and coordination for the City’s information security and privacy programs. Mr. Smith is responsible for policy, governance, and regulatory compliance for 15,000+ employees. He oversees the City’s Payment Card Industry Data Security Standards strategic assessment and remediation for 26 functional departments processing $200M+ transactions annually.

Among other certifications, Mr. Smith is a Certified Information Security Manager (CISM), a Certified Project Management Professional (PMP).

He has a B.A. in History from U. of Virginia and a Master of Science in Systems Management from the U. of Southern California.

Kurt Thies is an entrepreneur, adviser, writer, and speaker with over 20 years of experience as a strategic advisor and expert in Information Lifecycle Management.

Kurt’s first company provided legal automation and litigation support software. His company’s software solution was used in several prominent trials and helped pioneer the use of technology in law firms.

Kurt then founded Accutrac Software, Inc. that provided the Accutrac Records Management system used by leading law firms, government agencies, and corporations. Accutrac Software, Inc. was acquired by Iron Mountain. Kurt spent the next several years developing Iron Mountain’s unified solution for physical and electronic records in partnership with IBM, Microsoft, and others.

Kurt then began his relationship with TAB Products Co. LLC bringing his vast background and experience in Information Lifecycle Management to expand TAB’s focus on technology and advisory services.

Chapter about the exciting new Records Officer Certification program offered by the State.

New Job Announcement: Compliance Supervisor (RIM)

Position: Compliance Supervisor (RIM). Pacific Gas and Electric Company, a subsidiary of PG&E Corporation (NYSE:PCG), is one of the largest combined natural gas and electric utilities in the United States. Based in San Francisco with 20,000 employees, the company delivers some of the nation’s cleanest energy to 15 million people in Northern and Central California. The Compliance Supervisor position is located within the RIM group. This team is responsible for supporting Gas Operations in overall management of paper (physical) and electronic records as well as the efficient use of technology, tools and applications for managing the lifecycle of physical and electronic records in accordance with current PG&E records and information management standards and processes.
